A march and rally was held on April 16, 2011 starting at Denver Civic Center Park and winding up on the State Capital Steps. This rally held to call for the labeling of GMO (genetically modified foods and food products) in stores, and to further call for a moratorium on the release of further genetically modified foods, to encourage consumers to vote with their pocket books by refusing to buy GMO foods and food products, by insisting on more organic or non-GMO foods and by calling for a reanalysis of current GMO foods, to demand proper long-term testing of GMO products (currently neither the EPA, FDA or USDA, require mandatory testing of GMO foods) with third party peer review of all company studies. Ideally it may also lead to a BAN on the patenting of life and aggressive and threatening actions by multinational corporations, corporate industry groups and even some government officials against farmers in the US, and other countries who resist the growing of Genetically modified foods, or who’s crops are contaminated by GMO pollens.
