The chinese government has mandated new nutritional guidelines for the entire country, reduce meat consumption by 50%, very good news for all conscious citizens in the world.
Meat consumption was established relatively recently in China and has been increasing rapidly since 1982.
As a consequence, over 100 million chinese citizens currently suffer from an alarming amount of obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular illnesses. The numbers speak for themselves and they reveal what the consumption of meat and animal products do to the human body with a real example and without room for doubt.
China plans to reduce their meat consumption by 50%
Furthermore, the hope is that this measure will relieve the effect of global warming, as 15% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions come from raising animals for meat consumption.
This figure is larger than the greenhouse gas effect of the entire global transportation industry, including planes, vehicles, and ships. It’s estimated that by the year 2030 China will reduce 800 million of the provided 1800 million tons of greenhouse gases for this year.
Li Junfeng, general director of the National Strategy Center for Climate Change in China
The sincerity with which the Chinese government has faced this problem is praiseworthy, despite the lack of agreement with meat producing countries. This measure implemented by the Chinese government is creating a wave of similar reactions around the world, with the motivation to protect public health and reduce greenhouse gas effects.
The governments of the United States, Great Britain, Holland, and Sweden have proposed to reduce meat consumption among their populations, Denmark has taken a step further and proposed to burden meat product production with taxes.
This, without a doubt will bring about an economic reconsideration by the countries producing meat, like New Zealand, Argentina, and Brazil, due to the fact that their estimated income by this deplorable “business” won’t reach their goals.
Same inside, different outside
in contrast, the measures adopted by the Chinese government and that are expected to be adopted by other countries, will bring an overwhelmingly positive effect to public health and to environmental health on an ethical level in which the world citizen executes their role as an inhabitant of this planet.
We celebrate this intelligent decisión and the clear intention to protect a population, and the entire planet. This is a historic step in the face of the world and we hope that one day this will simply be a memory of the great day that humanity decided to take a step forward.
